MARGIA SHIRITI
Margia Shiriti is a Bangladeshi-American dancer, storyteller and cultural activist based in NYC. She is also the Executive Director of the non-profit Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) which facilitates performing arts trainings, community engagement programs and philanthropic efforts for underserved neighborhoods. Her choreographic work, often inspired by Rabindrik elements, interweaves classical Indian dance forms with traditional Bengali music and contemporary thematic pieces. She has performed as lead characters in several of Rabindranath Tagore's dance dramas such as Mayar Khela, Chandalika and Chitrangada. Currently, Margia is working on incorporating therapeutic techniques into her dance pedagogy, creating a safe space for both creativity and healing.
