What is the Winter Dance Intensive?

The Winter Dance Intensive is a 6-day long dance intensive with an emphasis on foundational techniques as well as performance. As Amita Batra’s style is rooted in ideologies and techniques of Modern/Contemporary as well as Kathak, these techniques will be explored alongside the idea of using your own body as a medium of storytelling and expression. The intensive is designed to further develop your toolkit as a performer.

Do I need to be an experienced dancer to apply?

All levels of performers are welcome to apply. However, there will only be 7 spots in an effort to push individual growth in a small group setting. Experience, potential for growth as well as passion for the craft will all be considered when choosing applicants. Some form of foundational dance training is encouraged.

Where will the intensive be held?

Both the intensive and the performance will be held in Manhattan.

I do not live in New York. Can I apply?

Absolutely. We anticipated performers from all over the country coming to the intensive & we will be happy to pair you with other attendees for shared accommodations. However, your housing will not be covered by Boundless by Amita.

What will the performance be?

The performance will be a culmination of the techniques and workshops within the intensive itself. It will be held in a theater and performance day will feature other esteemed artists in New York. Full line-up to be announced. You will be provided all necessary props, costumes and for use for the performance.
